There are times when you just need to hear this.

Buck up.

Creating comics is not an easy thing. It’s not a cheap thing. It’s not a thing where you are owed anything. It’s a lot of hardship, sweat, and frustration. Comics doesn’t owe you anything. Not a single sale, and definitely not a living.

But we do it anyway because we love it. We can’t think of anything we want to do more than to create comics. That love is what will sustain those with the fortitude to stick it out through disappointment, rejections, low sales, and more.

Buck up. It doesn’t get any easier for most of us, and success is nowhere near guaranteed.
