Is LinkedIn Useful For Comics?
There are all kinds of social things out there. Ways to communicate whatever it is you want.
The most useless one (to me), is LinkedIn.
I have an account there, but aside from people linking to me, I find it to be a waste of time. Do comic book people find jobs there?
I get a decent amount of emails from people, but none of them are ever from LinkedIn, and none of them ever mention finding me there, despite the fact that I get at least one person who wants to connect to me per week.
I don’t have a lot of connections—at least, I don’t think I do. 430 at present. While I’ve personally worked with a few of them, I have no reason why the overwhelming bulk of them want to connect to me. For comic folk, I’m assuming it’s the possibility of getting more work, because you never want to cut off an avenue. For others? Like a claims investigator. Why would a claims investigator connect to a comic book guy? And that’s not even looking too deeply at my connections.
Has anyone gotten a job in comics through this site? I really would like to know.
