Being Humble

| October 4, 2014

Daily Dose-grey

It’s not hard to be an asshole and think you’re great. It isn’t difficult at all, especially if you’ve been told this all your life by those who don’t know any better. It’s much, much more difficult to be humble. To be honestly humble.

Humble comes in two circumstances, to be honest: the first is when you’re damned good, everyone knows it, and you don’t know how to handle it because you think you’ve still got growing and learning to do. The second circumstance is when you’re not good but you’ve got inspiration and you’re willing to soak up lessons like a sponge. Anything else, generally, is false.

Being humble is a good thing. It means you’re either being recognized for your accomplishments and you’re still working to be “better,” or that you’re working toward a goal and you’re taking the lessons and applying them to your craft so that you can get better.

Being humble generally means you think you can get better, and you’re working toward that goal.

Who doesn’t want that?
